Grade 5&6 (Girls)
Chess Competition planned on October 14th is postponed to a later date due to the ongoing exams.
Thematic Assembly on the topic “girl child” planned on October 18th was changed to the topic ‘Awareness of Tolerance and Human Rights’ and was conducted on October 13th (Digital Classrooms) as part of a program initiated by the Dubai Police. Through this assembly, students got the awareness of Tolerance and Human Rights.
Virtual Sectional Picnic planned on October 15th due to the ongoing exams was modified into Fortnight Fun (Digital Classrooms) and was organised on October 14th & 28th as part of a wellbeing program. During this event, students showcased their skills. They engaged themselves in fun & frolic games and activities which acted as a major stress reliever before & after the exams.
Literacy Week planned from October 19th till 22nd was modified due to ongoing exams. It was modified into healthy selection for Reader’s Cup and was held on October 17th. Students were shortlisted based on their Lexile scores and sent for further selection by honorary people. They tapped their reading and competitive skills. They also came to know of their benchmarks and received suggestions for further improvement.
Grade 5&6 (Boys)
Gandhi Jayanti activity was conducted on October 1st. Students gained awareness about the contributions made by Mahatma Gandhi for India. It was also an opportunity to honor the birthday of the father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapuji.
Talent’s Day was held on October 5th. This day was an opportunity for students to exhibit their artistic & musical talents and thereby improve their self-confidence. It provided them with the best platform to exhibit their hidden potential. They showcased their talent and appreciated the unique talent in others. It was an extravaganza of creativity, artistic and cultural talents.
International Food Day was celebrated on October 11th. The objective was to strengthen international and national solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition & poverty and draw attention to achievements in food & agricultural development. Students understood the importance of nutritious food and a healthy lifestyle.
Literacy Fest and Innovation & Enterprise planned for this month are postponed to the next month due to half yearly exam.
Grade 7&8 (Girls)
Special Assembly titled ‘International Day of Non-Violence’ was held on October 4th. During this assembly, students commemorated the day with great respect and honor. Gandhiji’s ideals were shared by the children proclaiming the need for his principles in the present day scenario through a wonderful skit. Students imbibed the ideologies of peace and tolerance.
Intra-class Nukkad Natak and Virtual Tour planned for this month are rescheduled to the month of November, 2020 due to the commencement of Half Yearly Exams.
Grade 7&8 (Boys)
Assembly on Non-Violence and a Play on Mahatma Gandhi was conducted on October 1st. The purpose was to create awareness among students about the value of non-violence practices. Students from grade 7&8 recorded their thought as video on the importance of peace, tolerance and non- violence. It was shared in the morning assembly. Students from grade 7 performed and recorded a virtual skit on Mahatma Gandhi and the values he shared which was shown to promote non-violence.
GK Quiz - Inter house (preliminary round) was organised on October 13th. The objective was to challenge students and expand their knowledge. A set of 20 questions based on their subject and general knowledge was put as a challenge. It was done using Microsoft forms. Class teachers shortlisted students from each house and shared the names to the house mistresses who will be conducting the round two selection soon.
Open House and Virtual Picnic planned for this month are rescheduled due to exam. Open House will be rescheduled and will be conducted during the month of November, 2020. The tentative dates for Virtual Picnic will be during December, 2020.
Grade 9 (Girls)
Visit to a place of interest - Virtual Tour was organised on October 25th. Students were taken on a virtual tour to the Son Doong caves in Central Vietnam.
Grade 9&10 (Girls)
Thematic Assembly – Ruby House (International Day of Non-Violence) was held on October 7th. This assembly aimed to pay tribute to the iconic leader M.K. Gandhi.
Talent Scan - Performing Arts (Group Dance competition) was conducted on October 13th. This competition was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talent in dance, team spirit and stage presence. It also aimed to boost their confidence and self- determination.
Lego League - Micro Green Fest was organised on October 18th. A variety of micro-greens was displayed. This initiative aimed at inculcating the skills of agriculture in the minds of the future generations and to teach them about the benefits of growing their own food.
Sports Week (virtual) was held from October 13th till 20th. During this week, students indulged to do the most beneficial exercise "Squats", which not only helped them to maintain their well -being but also educated them on the benefits of Squats and Physical Education. It provided them an environment for physical development and mental health. It also helped them to develop self-esteem, reduce pressure and stress during this pandemic situation.
Grade 9&10 (Boys)
International Day of Non-Violence was held on October 4th. Thematic assembly on International Day of Non-violence was conducted to promote the ideals of peace, tolerance, non- violence among students. It was also an opportunity to involve them in peaceful behavior in the midst of conflicts. A prerecorded video in which they narrated the life of Mahatma Gandhi, instrumental music on Vaishnava Janato and a quiz on Gandhiji were included.
Talents Day and Virtual Visit planned in this month are postponed to the next month due to the PT2 revision and examination.
Unit Test 3 for all subjects was conducted as per the timetable.
Round Square Head office organized its Post Card activity every week for its members to pick one and host in their School. For the month of October IHS has hosted the Post Card activity with other Round Square Schools. IHS has collaborated this activity with 10 international Schools. Students from different Schools and nationality exchanged their views on the topic ‘Multiculturism: A new Normal’. Students of IHS showcased Dubai as one of the best examples of a multicultural society. 86 Students and 11 teachers participated in this meeting. The meeting has received high appreciation from the Round Square group.
The Intra School Quiz Competition was organized during this month on the occasion of United Nations Day for the students of IHS MUN from grades 5 to 12.This event marked students’ knowledge related to UN Charter, rules & procedures and its functioning.
Indian High School participated in Literature Fest organized by Assam Valley School, Balipara, India from October 14th to 18th. Students took part in variety of events based on literature like - Meet the Author, Slam Poetry, Read & Rhyme, Be a Character, Movie Club and Cultural Fest. The Blind fold key board performance of IHS students was appreciated a lot in the cultural fest. It was an amazing experience to interact with like-minded people across countries.
Indian High School has participated in Round Square Conference hosted by Millennium School Dubai on the topic Climate Change and Sustainability on October 28th & 29th. Students of IHS presented their best practices to adopt for better sustainable future.
Leadership Training is postponed till further notice.

A Talk for Students of grade 11 boys and girls on the topic ‘College Readiness’ was held on October 5th. This talk guided students on various criteria for different colleges. The talk was presented virtually by our school counsellors.
A Talk for Students of grade 12 boys and girls on the topic ‘College Search and Process’ was held on October 7th. Through this talk, students were informed about all the pros and cons of studying in different countries. The talk was presented virtually by our school counsellors.
A Talk for Students of grade 8 boys and girls on the topic ‘Get Set Goal – for DL’ was held on October 11th. This talk helped students understand various demands during DL and how to achieve them. The talk was presented virtually by our school counsellors.
A Talk for Students of grade 9 boys and girls on the topic ‘Managing and Handling Pressure During DL’ was held on October 21st. This talk guided students handling emotional, academic and career related pressures. The talk was presented virtually by our school counsellors.

Thematic Assembly (Digital) titled ‘Conquer the fear, exams are here’ was held on October 15th. Students presented this assembly on how to conquer the fear of exams through a skit. They shared exam tips and motivated their friends to prepare well for their exams.

Remembering Sheik Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum on the 30th death anniversary through an activity was held on October 7th. Students remembered him. As an honorary tribute they lined up various performances for the day. Students from grade 8 performed a role play depicting the legacy of Sheik Rashid. Later a video portraying his legendary greatness was presented. It aimed to remember our great leader and share his legacy.
Project Evexia – 1st Forthnight Fun was conducted on October 14th. Students Wellness Managers of each section planned and designed an interactive segment and a game segment. In the 1st segment which was Show a Skill, students showcased and shared their unique talents such as dance, singing and interest like science experiments and robotics with their classmates. In the 2nd segment, students were engaged in an interactive game session where they played games like Pictionary and Hangman. It was a student led program for the students. It helped to support and strengthen wellbeing among them.
Project Evexia – 2nd Forthnight Fun was conducted on October 28th. Student Wellness Managers of each section planned and designed an interactive session and a game segment. In the 1st segment which was Play a Game, students played story chain. In the 2nd segment, students participated in Stress Buster (let’s dance). Class teacher played music of different genres & tempo and the students had to groove & dance according to the music. They enjoyed a lot and showed their interest to participate & have fun. It helped to support and strengthen wellbeing among them.
A Talk for Students of grade 7 boys and girls on the topic ‘Cyber Bullying’ was held on October 1st. This talk helped students understand prevention of cyber bullying. The talk was presented virtually by our school counsellors.
