GRADE - WISE

KG 1

Thematic Assembly (Virtual) will be conducted on October 21st. Students will present a skit with a given theme. It will help to instill self-confidence, self-esteem and teamwork. It will also provide them a platform to perform, present and learn.

KG 1 & KG 2

International Day of Peace & Non-Violence (Story Time) will be held on October 1st. Teacher will take the students through a story narration as they talk and discuss about peace and non- violence. It aims to create a feeling of compassion, kindness and hope.

D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) will be held during this month (every Thursday). Through this activity, teacher will read stories to their students along with a discussion on the plot, characters, beginning and the end. They will also be encouraged to read their favourite story. It gives more opportunities for them to read books they want and enjoy the pleasure of reading. It aims to encourage families at home to designate a special time to drop everything and read at home.

KG 2

Organic Farming (Virtual) will be organized on October 4th. This activity will create awareness among students about kitchen gardening. It will also help to improve their skills for growing fresh and safe vegetables without use of any pesticide. They will get involve in home gardening along with their teachers as they can produce food and get exercise all while having some fun.

A Visit to Supermarket – Educational Field Trip (Virtual) will be conducted on October 7th. Students will participate in a virtual trip to the supermarket along with their teachers exploring the various sections in the store, the whole process of buying and identifying different fruits & vegetables. It will help to link the classroom experience with the outside world and to improve the process of learning along with practical experience. It also aims to promote healthy food choices and eating habit.

Global Awareness -Thematic Assembly (Virtual) will be held on October 14th. Through thematic assembly, students will present a country. They will have PPT of the country’s national symbols. They will also talk about the country’s culture and way of greetings. It will help other students to learn and get familiarize about a new country. They will learn their national symbols, culture and greetings. It will also encourage them to develop self-confidence, language and communication.

Grade 1 & 2

International Day of Non-Violence will be held on October 1st. A special assembly will be conducted to instill the values taught by Gandhiji. Students will express the ideas of peace and non- violence through drawing and write up. They will choose a value taught by Mahatma Gandhi and share their views about it during the English, Value or Reading program periods.

Project Based Learning (PBL) will be conducted on October 13th. Students will work in groups and present the topic allotted to them. It will be a culmination of the Summer Integrated project.

Cool or Uncool? activity will be organized on October 18th. During this activity, students will express their opinion on the cool and uncool habits of people around them. It will be a value based identification of quality. They will observe people around them and share what they feel is a good (cool) value and why they like it. They will also identify a value (bad) that they want to change.

School Doctor’s Talk will be held on October 25th. Through this session, Doctor will give a talk related to personal health. It will be an awareness talk related to the current situation to take care of personal health. It can be through live session or async.

Grades 3 to 5

International Day of Non-Violence will be held on October 1st. Students will participate in skits, singing and different performances to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi. Grade 5 students will present self-prepared movies on non-violence. It aims to mark the importance of non-violence and celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi. The birth anniversary of one of the most powerful ‘Peace’ activists.

Innovation Expo (Let’s Invent!!) will start on October 3rd. This activity will be an opportunity for students to innovate and create projects with the theme “Sustainability”. Innovative projects on sustainable goals in Expo 2020.

Grades 6 to 8

International Day of Non-Violence will be held on October 4th. Through this day, students will present a short video depicting Gandhiji's principles in real life. It aims to promote respect for all human rights and to uphold the values of peace & non-violence.

Grades 6 to 10

Innovation Expo Week will be conducted from October 11th till 15th. The objective is to unlock the potential of students to create and innovate. They will present self-made still/working models based on the SDGs of Expo 2020.

School Doctor’s Talk (Online) will be held on October 21st. Our school doctor will address the students on the topic ‘Personal Hygiene, Precautions against Diseases and more’. It will help to educate them about the topic.

Grade 9 & 10

International Day of Peace & Non-Violence will be held on October 4th. Students will engage in a symposium at the class-level on the topic 'The relevance of Gandhiji's principles in the present times' (online). It aims to promote respect for all human rights and to uphold the values of peace & non-violence.

Student-Led Webinar-Imagineers will be organized on October 12th. IIS Alumni who have made their mark in the CBSE exams will host a webinar to inspire and motivate their juniors. They will share valuable study tips and guidelines.

PROGRAM - WISE

Round Square Post Card will be concluded on October 1st for grade 9 & 10. Every week, Round Square schools host post card activity to invite various schools around the world to share ideas and introduce their city or country to them. There will be a meeting with students of different schools from Oman, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, South Africa, South Korea and Argentina. They will share ideas on ‘Multiculturalism’ and developing new normal during COVID situation.

CLUBS

IHS Clubs begins during this month (TBD) for grades 2 to 10. The purpose is to provide extra support for skill development in the areas of Art, Dance, Cookery, Debate, Oratory Photography, Quizzing and many more. Online clubs with variety of choices for students to enhance their skills and showcase their talent through different modes.

LEARNING CENTRE

A Parent Talk on the topic ‘Overcoming Distance Learning Challenges’ will be held on October 21st for grades 1 to 8 parents whose ward receives Learning Support. This live event via MS Teams will equip parents with strategies to help their ward overcome distance learning challenges.
