Thematic Assembly will be held on March on 8th. Students will present a skit about a topic. It will provide opportunity to appreciate others performing in front of them.
KG 1 & KG 2
Innovation Station will be conducted from March 1st to 19th. In Recycling Corner, KG 1 students will be engaged in ‘necklace & pencil holder making’ while KG 2 students will be involved in ‘helicopter & ship craft making’. They will create new things from recyclable materials, work independently with minimal help, pretend to be a Pilot & the captain of the ship and know its role. It will help to develop their fine motor skills, creativity and communication skills. In Gizmo Corner, students will participate in ‘recap of all concepts’ activities. KG 1 students will solve puzzles for CVC words and sight words. They will read and watch online moral stories. They will use different manipulative to make shapes and patterns. They will read and solve puzzles for Arabic letters & numbers. They will practice cursive writing. They will draw and talk about the pictures. They will practice number value and number building. They will acquaint and engage oneself to digital learning through various interactive fun games & activity. They will experiment with sound, light, drawing & painting and construct their own creativity & story. It will also be an opportunity for them to demonstrate & acquire skills in counting, phonemic awareness, reading skills and problem-solving skills. KG 2 students will be engaged in creative writing using notepad. They will solve puzzles for addition & subtraction and for Arabic letters & numbers. They will read & solve puzzles and make sentences. They will draw & talk about the pictures for seasons and other concepts. They will solve puzzles for word, sentences and writing sentences. They will practice and write creative and cursive writing. It will be an opportunity for them to demonstrate understanding of fun games & activities and be able to work independently. It also aims for the enhancement of their vocabulary building, reading skills, problem solving skills and critical thinking. Awareness of environment and importance of seasons by solving and drawing puzzles will also be included.
Kiddies Junction will be organised from March 1st till 19th. KG 1 students will be engaged in Practical Life Skills – tweezing of poms and straw & pipe cleaner, in Lego Corner – making their own model or copy the given picture, in My Small World – fairy garden play and in Performing – musical show. It will be an opportunity for them to manipulate objects to move from one place to another. It will improve their coordination control, fine motor skills and cognitive skills. It will also develop their eye-hand coordination, gripping skills, independence, creativity, thinking skills and imagination. They will create a pretend play fairy garden. It will develop their concept of ‘fairy garden’. They will showcase their talents in singing and dancing. It will enhance their language skills and build self-confidence. KG 2 students will be involved in My Small World – puzzle activity, in Performing –ice cream shop and Lego Corner activities. It will help to develop their problem-solving, reasoning, critical thinking & fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. It will enhance their shape recognition, concentration, patience and sense of achievement. It will develop their concept of order and independence. It will develop their self-confidence, social, imaginative and vocabulary skills through role play activity. They will act out a scenario in an ice cream shop.
Reading Lounge activities with the theme titled ‘new trainers, stuck’ for KG 1 and ‘Clifford’s tricks’ for KG 2 will be organised from March 1st to 19th. KG 1 students will be encouraged to talk about football game and to read simple story books independently. They will also brush up sight words through reading sentences. They will be asked to make their own stories. They will tell own make-up and real stories. They will also relate stories to real life situations. They will make connections among sounds, letters, words, pictures and meaning. It will help to encourage them to read from left to right and understand the words read from top to bottom. While narrating the story teacher will ask questions in between. It will help to increase their willingness to communicate their thoughts and feelings. Towards the end of the story narration, pictures will be shown in which they will sequence them and make a mind map. KG 2 teacher will initiate the story discussing the cover and elicits answers from students. They will identify the CVC words and sight words they are familiar with. They will also be encouraged to understand and speak about what they read. They will explore the meanings and events in the story. Picture on ICT will be shown to them and they will be asked to make their own stories. They will also be encouraged for a pair reading followed by a group discussion of characters and incidents in the story with a mind map. It will help to encourage active participation and increase their vocabulary. They will read more challenging text decoding using phonic knowledge. They will also talk and listen with confidence, consistently showing awareness both the listener by including relevant details.
Art & Craft activities will be conducted from March 1st till 19th. These activities will be an opportunity for students to use their imagination & creativity to create an artwork that is naturalistic and includes details. It will also help to develop their fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination and enhance their vocabulary skill. They will present and express an artwork. They will be engaged in ‘Free Hand Drawing’. They will describe the things they want most during their favourite season. They will also describe the best things they want most during their kindergarten times.
Little Explorers activities will be held from March 1st to 19th. Through these activities, students will be involved in Kaleidoscope Exploration, Fun with Shadows, How Light Travel Experiment, Shadow Makers and Coloured Bubble Experiment respectively. They will explore and talk about the parts of the kaleidoscope, what they can see inside it and how it works. They will explore different materials. They will learn and understand how shadow is form. They will also observe and compare. They will understand and talk about how light travel. It will help to enhance reasoning and problem solving skills. They will talk about what happen when vinegar, soap and baking soda are mixed together.
Thematic Assembly & Global Awareness will be held on March 5th. Through this assembly, students will learn and get familiarize about a new country. They will learn their national symbols, culture and greetings. It will encourage them to develop self-confidence. It will also help them in their language and communication development. PPT about the country, talk about the country and national dance will be included.
Grade 1 & 2
Annual School Picnic to Kidzania will be organised on March 10th. The objective is to provide opportunity for students to explore and engage with role playing activities. They will learn all about jobs, money and the real world. Kidzania offers a learning opportunity that will broaden their horizons and spark their curiosity. Role playing activities that will take them on a unique, meaningful and inspirational experience.
Grade 3 & 4
Annual School Picnic to Legoland will be organised on March 10th. This picnic will provide opportunity for students to explore and engage with LEGO® themed - ultimate theme park filled with adventures through interactive rides. It will take them on a unique, meaningful and inspirational experience.
Grades 5 to 8
Annual School Picnic to Zabeel Park will be organised on March 11th. The purpose is to provide opportunity for students to explore and engage with public parks in Dubai thereby seeking a remote recreational experience at Zabeel Park with friends and teachers. This park visit offers a learning opportunity that will broaden the student’s horizons as proactive citizens.
World Scholar Cup will be held on March 20th & 21st. IHS is hosting Dubai Regional Round 1 in its Oud Metha campus in partnership with World Scholar Cup. This program is inclusive, encouraging, interdisciplinary, discussion-based, forward-looking, team-oriented, whimsical and academic achievement with fun in learning. It aims to motivate students of grades 4 to 12 to discover new strengths and practice new skills in fun & both competitive way. It will also help to inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders.
Open House will be conducted on March 24th for grades 5 to 8, on March 25th for grades 1 to 4 and on March 26th for KG. Through this program, teachers will have opportunity to meet parents. They will discuss student's academic progress and social behavior.
Annual Training will be organised from March 10th till 24th for Counsellors, Special Educators, Speech Therapist and LSAs. This In-house training will be conducted through interactive workshops and discussions. It aims to provide continuous professional development for all members of the Counselling & Careers Department.
KG 2 Annual Sports Day will be held on March 1st & 2nd for divisions ‘A to J’ respectively. Students will participate in fun filled races and the winners will be rewarded with certificates. It aims to promote linkage between sports, clubs and schools. It will help to empower communities and to provide opportunities for participation in variety of local programmes & events. It will also foster the development of lifelong activities across a range of population growth & physical education and sport is important to their development.
KG 1 Annual Sports Day will be held on March 11th & 12th for divisions ‘A to H’ respectively. This day will help students to explore their hidden sports interests as they enjoy a healthy competition with each other. More than the physical activity, such events help them build confidence and social skills. It will also teach them the benefits of goal-setting and practice. They will participate in fun filled races and the winners will be rewarded with certificates.
