KG 1 & KG 2
Kiddies Junction activities will be held form January 16th till 30th. KG 1 students will participate in Hands-on Activity (tweezing of artificial feathers & putting batteries in flashlight), My Small World (beach small world play) and Performing - dramatization (day & night). It will help to develop their cognitive, fine motor, sorting, language & communication skills, creativity, imagination through acting and eye-hand coordination. It will also help to improve their coordination control, self-confidence and independence. They will manipulate objects to move from one place to another, explore beach small world, share their summertime experience in the beach and determine activities during day time & night time. KG 2 students will be involved in My Small Word (dessert sand small world), Performing - dramatization (the story of the sand & the wind) and Lego Corner (making their own model or copy the given picture). It will help to develop their fine motor & eye-hand coordination skills, language & communication skills, self-confidence & self-esteem, cognitive skills, creativity and thinking skills. They will also recognize the things that live in the dessert, express the importance of protecting ourselves from heat of summer days and act creatively & imaginatively in dramatizing a story.
Reading Lounge with narration stories titled ‘Pepper in the Dark’ & ‘Bubbles is Careless’ for KG 1 and ‘by the Stream’ & ‘Cinderella’ for KG 2 will be organised from January 16th to 30th. These activities will be an opportunity for KG 1 to make connections among sounds, letters, words, pictures and meaning. They will read simple story independently - identify characters, settings & events, predict outcomes, recall, retell & reenact stories and relate stories to real life situations. KG 2 students will develop their listening skills, build vocabulary, read & understand sentences, talk to organize sequence, clarify thinking, ideas, feelings & events and explore meanings & sounds of new words. They will also tell own story elements such as main characters, sequence of events and openings.
Innovation Station will be conducted from January 16th till 30th. Students will participate in Gizmo Corner activities - my country (India & UAE), the sky day & night and all about India & weather. In Recycling Corner activities, they will participate in Dates tree & elephant craft making, pinwheel & winter mittens craft making, Nehru cap making and tissue bag making. They will acquaint & engage oneself to digital learning, experiment with sound, light, drawing & painting, create their own creativity & story and demonstrate acquire skills in counting. It will also help them in phonemic awareness, reading skills, problem solving skills, enhancement of vocabulary building & critical thinking skills, develop fine motor & communication skills, eye-hand coordination and creativity. They will demonstrate understanding of fun games & activities, work independently, show awareness of India & UAE country, create artifacts from recyclable materials and learn simple folding.
Art & Craft activities will be conducted from January 16th to 30th. Through these activities students will use their creativity & imagination to create an art work, identify different kinds of animals, present & express their artwork, identify things that can be seen & used during winter season, use different materials to create craft activity, name the different symbols of India and combine different materials to create an artwork. It will also help to develop their fine motor skills & eye-hand coordination and enhance their vocabulary skills. Winter craft activity & red fort colouring for KG 1 while red fort drawing & elephant art decoration for KG 2.
Little Explorers activities will be organised from January 16th till 30th. KG 1 students will be engaged in Kaleidoscope Exploration and Make a Cloud Experiment while KG 2 will be involved in Rainbow Brew Experiment and Air Takes up Space Experiment. It will be an opportunity for them to explore, observe and talk about Kaleidoscope. They will also explore different materials, predict & observe, learn & understand weather, talk about the changes that happen when baking soda, dishwashing & vinegar are mixed and enhance reasoning skills how air takes space.
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) activity will be held on January 16th, 23rd & 30th (every Thursday). The purpose of this activity for students is to give them more opportunities to read books they want and enjoy the pleasure of reading. It also aims to encourage families at home to designate a special time to drop everything and read at home. There will be a lot of hands on activities including the extended learning activities where reading is mainstream of the day.
Grade 1 & 2
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Honesty’ will be conducted on January 21st. Students will have a short skit to show what honesty is all about and present a dance performance. It will help them understand the importance of being truthful and difference between honesty & lying.
Math Cafe activity will be organised from January 20th to 23rd. This activity will be an opportunity for students to apply their learning in real-life situation and learn the importance of collaboration & team work. They will set up a mini café where parents will be invited to be their main guests.
Grade 3 & 4
Assembly on Equality will be conducted on January 22nd. Through this assembly, students will understand what equality means. Student talk, PPT presentation, speech and counsellor talk will be included.
Assembly on Importance of Saying Thank You will be conducted on January 29th. During this talk, there will be skit, song, student talk, PPT and counsellor’s talk. It aims to consider how important it is to thank people for their kindness to us.
Grade 9 & 10
Picnic will be organised on January 28th. The purpose is to create a balanced atmosphere for learning, discipline and all around development of students. It will also be a great stress buster for kids. It will help reduce their stress and anxiety.
Republic Day Celebrations will be held on January 26th. Students from grades 5 to 8 will put up a show at IHS, Senior School campus. The objective is to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and connect them to their homeland.
Annual Athletic Meet will be conducted on January 30th for grades 5 to 10. This activity is designed to meet students' interests and abilities. It will also help to develop their physical talents to their maximum potential and engage them in competitive activities. It will encourage them to partake in activities promoting sound health, safety and physical fitness.
