KG 1 & KG 2
Kiddies Junction activities will be held form January 5th till 15th. KG 1 students will participate in Hands-on Activity (sorting of lentils & pulses, tweezing of artificial feathers), My Small World and Performing - Role Playing (Winter Wonderland). It will help to develop their fine motor skills & eye-hand coordination, improve coordination control skills, self-confidence & independence and develop language skills & communication skills. It will also be an opportunity for them to manipulate objects to move from one place to another, express the importance of keeping ourselves warm in cold days and create & explore winter wonderland using their creativity & imagination. KG 2 students will be involved in My Small Word (sunny days), Performing (dressing up for winter season) and Lego Corner. It will help to develop their fine motor, eye-hand coordination & cognitive skills, self-confidence & self-esteem and express the importance of protecting ourselves from heat of summer days. They will also identify appropriate clothes to wear for winter season and manipulate objects to move from one place to another.
Reading Lounge with narration stories titled ‘Mr. Forgetful, Snow White & Seven Dwarfs, Bubbles is Careless’ for KG 1 and ‘By the Stream, Cinderella’ for KG 2 will be organised from January 5th to 15th. These activities will be an opportunity for KG 1 to make connections among sounds, letters, words, pictures and meaning. They will read simple story independently, identify characters, settings & events, predict outcomes, recall, retell & reenact stories and relate stories to real life situations. KG 2 students will develop their listening skills, build vocabulary, read & understand sentences, talk to organize sequence, clarify thinking, ideas, feelings & events and explore meanings & sounds of new words. They will also tell own story elements such as main characters, sequence of events and openings.
Innovation Station will be conducted from January 5th till 15th. Students will participate in Gizmo Corner activities - my country (India & UAE), sky by day & night and all about India/weather. In Recycling Corner activities, they will participate in dates tree & elephant craft and bubble wrap trees. They will acquaint & engage oneself to digital learning, demonstrate awareness of India & UAE country and create new things from recyclable materials. It will also be an opportunity to experiment with sound, light, drawing & painting, create their own creativity & story, enhance their vocabulary building, critical thinking skills (solving puzzles) and develop fine motor & communication skills. They will demonstrate & acquire skills in counting, phonemic awareness, reading skills & problem solving skills, demonstrate understanding of fun games & activities and work independently.
Art & Craft activities will be conducted from January 5th to 15th. The objective of these activities for students is to use imagination to create an art work, identify different kinds of animals, present & express the artwork, identify things that can be seen & use during winter season, used different materials to create craft activity and name the different symbols of India. It will also help to develop their fine motor skills & eye-hand coordination and enhance vocabulary skills. Making of animal models, colouring of India symbols and snowflakes making will be included.
Little Explorers activities will be organised from January 5th till 15th. Through these activities, students will be involved in Animal Body Covering Exploration, Light Science Experiment, Water Fireworks Experiment and Bubble Making. It will help them identify animals and their body covering, describe how does each body covering feel by using their sense of touch, talk about the importance of the body covering for the animals, explore light, observe & compare the materials and describe how light has an effect on each material. It will also be an opportunity to explore different materials, observe what happened when oil, food colour & water are mixed together, talk about the concept of sink or float, explore the bubbles through their senses, talk about bubbles & how we can make bubbles by mixing materials and engage in the experiment while blowing bubbles & playing with purpose.
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) activity will be held on January 9th. The purpose of this activity for students is to give them more opportunities to read books they want and enjoy the pleasure of reading. It also aims to encourage families at home to designate a special time to drop everything and read at home. There will be a lot of hands on activities including the extended learning activities where reading is mainstream of the day.
Grade 1 & 2
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Integrity’ will be conducted on January 7th. Students will talk about the meaning of the topic. They will present a short skit to show what integrity means and its importance.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Honesty’ will be conducted on January 14th. This assembly will be an opportunity for students to perform and have a short play to show what honesty is all about. It will help them understand why being honest/truthful is important to us, to community and to society.
Grade 3 & 4
Thematic Assembly will be held on January 8th. Students will conduct a class assembly on ‘New Year Resolution’ with PPT presentation, student talk and counsellor talk. It aims in encouraging other students to take up new year resolutions, helping them set a goal and work toward achieving it.
Thematic Assembly will be held on January 15th. The objective is to understand the nature and importance of forgiveness. Students from grade 4 will present topic on ‘Forgiveness’ with PPT presentation, skit, student talk and counsellor talk.
